The world of photography has always availed everyone the opportunity to express themselves in different ways, hence, different genres of photography. Boudoir photography is one of these genres totally dedicated to women, celebrating their beauty without judgment. As a Boudoir photographer, I see this genre as the most expressive and artistically liberating, giving pictures that become memorabilia over time.

Boudoir photography became very popular in the 1940s; the pin-up era, indicating women have always had means of expressing themselves in front of the camera since time immemorial.

Boudoir photography in my own opinion, as a professional photographer, is the total celebration of womanhood, it offers a woman the avenue to be beautiful, sensual and ooze sexiness without the fear or prejudice, wearing close to nothing or in some cases nothing at all. Implied nudes have also gained popularity. It simply means being photographed nude without showing off anything.

These days, women of all colors, shapes and sizes have boudoir shoots from weight loss to pregnancy periods, pre-wedding photos, in fact ladies use boudoir photography to document every important stage of their lives. To this freedom of expression via photography I say ‘way to go, ladies!’

There are a lot of questions prospective muses want to ask their Boudoir photographer before going all out to take these photos. I always give room for questions and ensure that my prospective Boudoir photography clients are as comfortable as possible before the session begins. I would love to share these questions with you answer them the best way I can so as to aid you in making this decision.

Who will take my pictures?

Sharing one of the most intimate photo sessions in a woman’s life should not be taken likely. To make the best of the experience, a professional photographer who has Boudoir photography experience should be used. As a BOUDOIR PHOTOGRAPHER IN CALGARY with experience, I can advise you on poses, lighting and backdrops. This actually affects the final product a great deal. Put all these into consideration and you will get the best photos capturing your treasured moments.

When can I schedule a Boudoir session?

The best time for a Boudoir photography session is when you feel very comfortable with yourself. After a significant weight loss, when you feel very sexy during your pregnancy and a few days before your wedding or special day.

You need to be calm and in the mood for this and when you think you are ready, schedule the session immediately. To make you feel more beautiful, you can also schedule private studio hair and makeup sessions as well to give that edge to the photos.

For bridal Boudoir photography, I always frown against sessions in the morning before the wedding, when a bride is nervous, worried about the cloud above her wedding site, this is not the time to do the session. A few days before the wedding is advisable.

Showing that baby bump during a Boudoir photography session can be divine, an intimate period between a mother and her unborn child. It is best to book a session when both the mum and baby are calm. I do not advise a Boudoir photography session on your way to the hospital to birth your child, that is a no, no, never situation.

Where should I have it done?

As I said earlier on, discuss with your photographer,  but most times a Boudoir photography session could be done in a studio. A hotel room, your home or a borrowed home can be used as well. Always get an okay from your photographer so as to ensure everything for the session is in order before you begin.

What can I wear?

It is very simple. Bring what you are very comfortable in. As a Boudoir photographer, I advise you to bring something black, white and a bright color to mix and match.

Boudoir photography can be beautiful if done correctly with the best photographer available.

If you are in the Calgary area, I am the Boudoir photographer for you. Capturing your best moments during the session is my responsibility and I will do that to the best of my ability and with all pleasure. Private studio hair and makeup sessions are also available to give you the pictures you would cherish for years to come.
